The expansion of the agricultural and livestock frontier in the Cerrado in the last four decades has already led to the total loss or degradation of 52% of the biome, placing pressing threats to its future and to the traditional forms of life of its inhabitants, especially in the region known as MATOPIBA. This report addresses in depth the current situation of the biome and the challenges that the current devastation poses for the Brazilian society.
